Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition 2020 Review | Whiskey Raiders

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch Decoder

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a release from Heaven Hill that is bottled and sold at cask strength. It is bottled at 12 years old, and releases in batches, with no set release schedule. There has generally been some fear that this age statement may leave the bottle, much like the regular Elijah Craig 12yr Release, but so far this has not been the case.

Generally, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is sold from $55 – $70 as a limited, seasonal release, but may be sold at extreme markups in shady shops, or large metropolitan retailers.

Pre-2017:

Between 2016 and 2017, Heaven Hill redesigned the label and bottle for Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. They also moved to a batch style notation (something that had long been requested) that indicated the Type of Release (A,B,C – correlating to first, second and third of year) with the Month (1,5,9 for January, May, September) and the Year (15,16,17 for 2015, 2016, 2017), etc.
