The Ultimate 2022 Holiday Whiskey Gift Guide for the Imbiber in Your Life

With the holidays fast approaching, there are millions of whiskey lovers out there who need the perfect gift this year. You’re looking for something great to buy them, so we’ve got you covered with an expansive list loaded with great options for any price range. This is our 2022 Holiday Whiskey Gift Guide.

Whiskey Scratch Off Chart ($19.99)

Whiskey Gift Guide

(Photo: Amazon)

Perfect for the eclectic drinker, this scratch-off poster features 50 whiskeys from various countries. The idea is that the owner scratches off each whiskey that they’ve tasted. Once they’ve scratched off all 50, this makes for a great piece of decor.

Buy it from Amazon.

Ice Cube Trays Silicone (Set of 2) Whiskey Ice Ball and Cube Molds ($14.99)

Whiskey Gift Guide

(Photo: Amazon)

If the whiskey lover in your life doesn’t already have large ice cube molds, this gift is a necessity. Large ice cubes reign supreme to smaller ones when it comes to whiskey or cocktails because they melt slower due to their larger surface area, keeping your drink cold for longer and diluting it less quickly. This two-pack of molds gives the option to make spherical or cubical ice cubes for your cocktail or pour of whiskey.

Buy the molds from Amazon.

Glencairn Whiskey Glass, Set of 2 ($18.99)

Whiskey Gift Guide

Every whiskey lover in the world should have at least one Glencairn glass. This style of glass is synonymous with whiskey. The shape is optimal for nosing and tasting neat whiskey. Some sellers jack up the price on these bad boys, but there’s really no need to spend an arm and a leg. This set of two official Glencairn glasses is modestly priced and makes for an excellent gift.

Robert Mondavi Private Selection Spirit Barrel-Aged Tasting Collection

Robert Mondavi

(Photo: Robert Mondavi)

If the whiskey lover in your life has a whiskey collection so expansive that you don’t want to get them another bottle — plus has all of the additional things they need to taste in luxury — this is an out-of-the-box option. This affordable sampler pack of wines from Napa Valley vineyard Robert Mondavi features three barrel-aged red wines, two of which used whiskey barrels: a bourbon-barrel-aged cabernet sauvignon, a rye-barrel-aged red blend and a rum-barrel-aged merlot.

All of these wines are tasty and quite different from one another — and the spirit barrels add noticeable flavors. Our spirits critic, Jay West, recently reviewed Robert Mondavi’s bourbon-barrel-aged Cabernet Sauvignon. Check out our video on that here.

The recipient of this gift can taste the wines side by side and see if they can pull out the whiskey (and rum!) flavors.

Order the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Spirit Barrel-Aged Tasting Collection from Drizly or find it in retail locations anywhere Robert Mondavi Private Selection is sold.

WhistlePig Barrel Aged Maple Syrup: Black Bourbon Society Selection ($29.99)

Whiskey Gift Guide

(Photo: Black Bourbon Society)

WhistlePig Whiskey, Black Bourbon Society and Runamok Maple teamed up to give back to release a special Barrel Aged Maple selection. WhistlePig’s standard barrel-aged maple syrup is a killer addition to your breakfast food items or cocktails, and we’re sure this Black Bourbon Society-picked version is wonderful, as well.

Selected by Black Bourbon Society, the limited-edition “Single Tap” maple syrup is aged in eight 10-year aged whiskey barrels before being blended. It is said to have a full-bodied texture with notes of buttery vanilla, caramel and light smoke.

Even better still, you can feel good about your purchase, because WhistlePig will donate 100% of proceeds from each bottle of Maple Syrup to Diversity Distilled, Black Bourbon Society’s nonprofit consultancy firm. Diversity Distilled advises, advocates and crafts unique strategies to address the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of brands.

Consumers who buy the Single Tap Maple Syrup will be entered into a raffle, and one lucky buyer will win a trip to the WhistlePig Farm in Vermont in 2023.

Buy a 375-milliliter bottle of the maple syrup from Black Bourbon Society’s website.

Whiskey Gift

(Photo: Peugeot)

A lot of whiskey-tasting sets are overpriced, but this one actually brings solid value for what’s included. The set comes with a whiskey glass, purposefully shaped to funnel aromas to your nose; a metal base for the glass to keep your whiskey cool without diluting it with ice; and a black coaster.

EISCH Whiskey Pipette ($54.90)

Whiskey Gift Guide

Pipettes are an excellent gift for any whiskey lover, particularly those who enjoy higher-ABV whiskeys, particularly cask-strength offerings. Whiskeys with high alcohol content can be hard to enjoy due to their high ethanol content. A good way to enjoy a whiskey that’s a little bit too hot on its own is by adding water. A drop or two of water can open up a whiskey, allowing the drinker to taste different flavors, and making high-octane whiskeys tamer and more accessible.

Pipettes are used to add droplets of water so that the drinker can add exactly as much water as they would like to. Control is very important when it comes to adding water to whiskey, as you don’t want to dilute your dram too much.

Sure, you could use an everyday eyedropper for this task, but what’s the fun in that?

This elegant EISCH Whiskey Pipette, refined with real gold, is available from Amazon for $54.90.

Whiskey Gift Guide

(Photo: Woodford Reserve)

This gift isn’t the best option for someone looking to try something new and adventurous; the juice here is standard Woodford Reserve bourbon, a solid whiskey but nothing that will blow your mind.

Instead, this is a gift for someone who values aesthetics. The limited holiday-edition bottle is beautifully designed and would look great on any bar or bar cart.

Milam & Greene Triple Cask Bourbon ($46.99)

Whiskey Gift Guide

(Photo: Milam & Greene)

Sometimes, the best gift for a whiskey fan is just… a good old bottle of whiskey. This is a good option for that, particularly if the recipient is a Texan. Milam & Greene is an up and coming distillery founded in 2017 in Blanco, Texas (about an hour north of San Antonio). This particular expression from Milam & Greene is a blend of 3-to-5-year-old Kentucky bourbon distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Co., 3-to-4-year-old Texas bourbon distilled in Blanco and Tennessee bourbon up to 14 years old.

This bourbon delivers notes of custard, banana, peanut brittle, pecans, brown sugar, caramel, buttery popcorn and bread in the oven on the nose, followed by a viscous palate with tons of oak and a bit of heat. This bourbon is a great pick for anyone who likes bourbons that aren’t excessively sweet. It definitely has sweet notes, including cornbread, sweet cream and vanilla, but they’re balanced nicely by oak and notes off sandalwood, pretzels and buttered cinnamon raisin bread.

Buy this bottle from the Milam & Greene website. If you order two or more bottles, you can use code 75SFREE for free shipping.

Redbreast 12 Birdfeeder Bottle ($75)

Whiskey Gift Guide

(Photo: Redbreast Irish Whiskey)

In November, Irish whiskey brand Redbreast announced the return of its birdfeeder bottle. This bottle of 12-year-old Irish whiskey comes encased in a Redbreast-branded red, copper-finished bird feeder.

The recipient of this gift has the option of hanging the flashy birdfeeder outside and filling it with birdseed — or just leaving it on the bottle as decoration.

Bourbon Nosing Kit ($74.99)

Bourbon Nosing Kit

(Photo: Vintage Gentleman)

This nosing kit from Vintage Gentleman is for anyone who wants to learn how to taste bourbon like a pro. There are many different nosing kits out there, but this one is thorough and priced well.

Here’s how it works, per the website:

– Pour some bourbon in a glass and swirl it around gently.
– Nose (smell) one of the elements, then nose your bourbon.
– Take a small sip and “chew” the bourbon around in your mouth for 5-10 seconds before swallowing.
– Nose the element and the bourbon again. The aromas present should be more amplified now.
– Take note of what aromas you find in the bourbon you’re nosing. If it smells sweet, can you get more specific? Maybe it’s more like vanilla, honey, or brown sugar. If it’s spicy, is it a cinnamon spice or black pepper spice?
– Repeat the process with each element to see what other nuances you can find in your glass

Buy the Bourbon Nosing Kit from the Vintage Gentleman website.

What do you get for someone who has a ton of whiskey? Something with which to transport whiskey, of course! This sleek bag from Tom Beckbe is made with waterproof materials and features leather carry handles, four exterior slip pockets and a removable divider to secure two bottles of whiskey. This bag makes it easy to bring whiskey on the go.

If you’ve got a higher budget, an even better gift idea is this bag plus a couple of bottles of whiskey to place inside of it. You can choose whichever bottles you’d like, of course, but one good option is a bottle each of Pinhook bourbon and rye (find them near you here). They’re solid, well-priced whiskeys, and the colorful wax seals that top the bottles look great poking out of a bag, adding a nice, aesthetic flair to this gift option, as seen in the below photo, which pictures Pinhook bottles in Tom Beckbe’s Canvas Tailgater bag, which is more expensive than the whiskey tote but also holds more bottles.
