On Tuesday, Golden State Warriors superstar and four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry announced the launch of  his first whiskey. Gentleman’s Cut Kentucky Straight Bourbon launches this month.

According to a news release, this whiskey has been “years in the making.” It will release at Boone County Distilling Co. in Florence, Kentucky.

“Celebrations take on many different forms, from intimate gatherings to major milestones, and at the center of each memorable moment is a spirit rooted in history and tradition,” Curry said in the news release. “I’m proud to have helped carefully craft a new signature Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Gentleman’s Cut. This rich, complex and bold bourbon is the perfect offering to commemorate life’s great occasions, and will be part of a raised-glass toasting moment in the lives of my fans, friends and family.”

Gentleman’s Cut is distilled from a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley. After distillation, the high-rye bourbon is aged five to seven years in charred new white oak barrels and bottled at 90 proof. Boone County Distilling Co. distills, ages and bottles Gentleman’s Cut under the name Game Changer Distillery. Game Changer is a venture between Curry’s Company, SC30, and John Schwartz, who owns the Amuse Bouche Winery in Napa Valley.

“In close collaboration with Stephen, we produced a high-quality aged bourbon offered at a great value that will resonate with bourbon connoisseurs and help grow the craft bourbon category to our global audience,” Schwartz said.

Gentleman’s Cut has signed a national distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. It has also agreed to an international deal with China Duty Free Group, which will export the brand to overseas markets.

Gentleman’s Cut Bourbon will sell at a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.

According to the news release, Curry was “intimately involved in every step” of the formation of this bourbon, from the manufacturing to the blending, aging, packaging and marketing.

Whiskey Raiders reported on the upcoming launch of Gentleman’s Cut Bourbon in March.
