Japanese Distillery Reaches New Heights, Brings Whisky Inspired By Mt. Fuji to the US

Fuji Whisky released its newest expression inspired by Mt. Fuji. The whisky will be available in the U.S. market.
On Thursday, Fuji Whisky announced the release of a blended whisky that was aged for eight years in ex-bourbon casks and inspired by Mt. Fuji’s distinctive terroir: Fuji Japanese Whisky. The distillery’s latest expression led to the establishment of a new Japanese whisky category: the single blend, a blended Japanese whisky whose components were produced at the same distillery.
“This unique expression marks a special moment for Fuji Whisky and our Mt. Fuji Distillery as its release signifies Fuji as the pioneer of single blended Japanese whiskies,” Master Blender Jota Tanaka said in a news release.
Tanaka has won multiple awards and holds 30 years of experience working both in the U.S. and in Japan, according to Whisky Advocate. With this release, Tanaka sought and received category recognition from the Japan Spirits and Liqueurs Makers Association.
“To be recognized by the JSMLA is an honor and I am excited to continue to grow the line of Fuji expressions on a global scale. Our Fuji Japanese Whisky is truly an exceptional gift; one which reflects the impact of, and patient ageing in the beautiful environment that surrounds Mt. Fuji, highlighting the control we can have over each element of production, embracing the distillation techniques that set us apart and make us truly one of a kind.” Tanaka concluded.
Bottled at 86 proof, Fuji Japanese Whisky is available in markets including California, Texas, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Georgia with a suggested retail price of $70.

More On Fuji Whisky
Fuji Whisky was founded in 1973 as a venture between Kirin Brewery, Joseph E Seagram and Sons and the Chivas Brothers. The distillery is known for producing grain whiskeys using snowmelt from Mt. Fuji in the production process and is one of Japan’s only distilleries that crafts both malt and grain whiskies under one roof.
Fuji made its way to the U.S. marketplace in 2021 with its Single Grain and Blended Japanese Whiskies.
