Jura Kicks Off New ‘Islanders’ Expressions’ Series With Scotch Finished in Rum Barrels From Barbados
Scotch whisky distillery Jura is kicking off its new “Islanders’ Expressions” series of global-travelers-exclusive whiskies with Jura Islanders’ Expressions Collection No. 1. The first expression in the series was finished in rum casks from Barbados and bottled at 80 proof.
Islanders’ Expressions Collection No. 1 is a collaboration with jeweler and Jura native Amy Dunnachie. Dunnachie contributed a handmade pin to accompany the bottle, made of copper and rope that washed up on the shores of Jura.
“I’m excited that a big global brand looked close to home and found a wee artist to work with,” Dunnachie said, according to Jura. “I’m excited that local skillsets are being recognised and celebrated and I’m delighted to be a small part of that.”
