Distilled by Aultmore, this release is aged for 18 years, bottled at 46% ABV, and newly imported to the US under the recently relaxed bottle volume guidelines: this release is a 700ml bottle.
Fresh and bold! Honey, hay, toffee, butter cream, a bit of salted caramel, touch of brine and a great malt character.
Rich on the palate, a bit of smoke, salinity, crushed stone and lemon curd. It's just peppery and smoky enough to give complexity - this is by no means a peated, or heavily smoky dram. Charred pineapple, vanilla bean, toffee, fresh rising bread, salted caramel. Really decadent, interesting, rich for 46% ABV.
Long finish, a touch of ash and brine, bold and full of flavor. Pepper, caramel, fresh biscuits and sweet buttercream. Very long finish, delightful.
This is a surprise in many ways. One of the first, newly imported 700ml imports to cross my desk, I'm already happy to see previous EU only bottlings here in the US. Rich, decadent, a lovely combination of malt, sweetness, savory smoke and a touch of salinity make this an easy bottle to pour another dram from.
