  • Intro:

This is a single cask, cask strength expression from The Ultimate, after bottling spirit distilled by Edradour. This is their peated malt, under the name Ballechin, and was matured in a refill sherry cask.

  • Nose:

Syrupy prune, fig, cherry and blackberry with faint smoke. Minerality, sweet vanilla, cocoa.

  • Taste:

Thick, rich. Heat in check. Smoky and rich, syrupy raisin, fig, currant, blackberry jam.

  • Finish:

Long, smoky, ashy and rich. Minerality, burning wood, faint fungal quality, syrupy and loaded with blackberry.

  • Overall:

Delightful, powerful and pungent. Amazing. While I've not always been a believer in Ballechin, this is a solid sell from them. Really nice.
