Excerpt: Barrell Rye Batch 003 was a long time expected release and I believe the company released a good one. I would love some fruit forward layer on the palate but who am I to judge:)
Excerpt: After a hiatus, Barrell Craft Spirits is back with a new rye batch that turns up the dial on its blending complexity by featuring ryes from four origins and up to 14 years of age.

House Review
Intro:
Produced from a blend of ryes aged in Indiana, Tennessee, Poland (?!) and Canada, Barrell Rye batch 003 is a rye whiskey, bottled at cask strength, comprised of components 4-14 years old.
Nose:
Sweet candy, honey, and toffee. Bright, fruity - some melon, curd, lime and pepper. Sweet all over, low on rye spice.
Taste:
Medium mouth feel. Heat is present but appropriate. Pepper, almond, orange peel, some brown sugar. This drinks like a Whistle Pig if I've ever had one.
Finish:
Long, earthy, soil forward finish. The rye and clove are dialed up in spades her compared to nose and palate. Peppery, earthy, lots of clove and a metallic note.
Overall:
Overall, this is wild and all over the place. It's incredibly unique, but not really my preferred profile.
Score:
