  • Intro:

Distilled by Ben Holladay in Missouri, this is one of the rare bottled in bond Missouri whiskeys on the market. It's 6 years old, bottled at 50% ABV and composed of whiskey distilled in the spring of 2017 and bottled in spring of 2023. Let's dive in!

  • Nose:

Soft caramels, bright fruit, tons of honey, sweet oak, light baking spice and a pop of decadent cherry. Oh, this is enticing.

  • Taste:

Moderate richness on the palate, this is lovely from start to back: sweet caramel, candied oranges, dark syrupy cherry, savory baking spice and a touch of graham cracker.

  • Finish:

Long and full of honey, toffee, cherry, salted caramel and a touch of cocoa and espresso.

  • Overall:

Overall, if Ben Holladay wasn't a brand to watch before, it absolutely is now. The producer has gone two for two on recent releases, and Soft Red Wheat belongs on every drinker's "new whiskey to dig up" list.
