  • Intro:

This limited release from the Metallica-backed whiskey brand Blackened is a collaboration between the brand and Wes Henderson, previously of Angel's Envy (now retired). It's bottled at barrel proof and finished in white port wine barrels. Let's dive in!

  • Nose:

Rich and funky on the nose, there's tons of bread pudding, sweet wine and honey, apples and pears, a touch of blackberry and opulent nougat. Rich and inviting, there's a lot going on!

  • Taste:

Medium to rich viscosity on the palate, a touch of heat. Grape, berries, honey, caramel and some rock candy sweetness. Light, nutty, funkiness.

  • Finish:

Everything comes together with this long finish. It's enjoyable, sweet and full of fruit, sweet oak and an interesting touch of nuttiness once again.

  • Overall:

Overall, this is an interesting pour that seems to touch on multiple different flavor profiles. I like it — if jammy fruits and a nutty, sweet bourbon profile is your go, this should be right up your alley.
