This is an independent bottling of spirit distilled at Blair Athol, bottled by SMWS after 8 years of aging in an ex-bourbon barrel. This bottling, "Monkberry Moon Delight" is bottled at cask strength, with no coloring or filtering. Let's see how it is.
Rich cocoa, vanilla cream, custard and musty tobacco. Sticky toffee cake and cake batter.
Apples, pears, honey, vanilla and faint oak. Some heat, to pair with a medium mouth feel. Heat grows with time, as does the sulphur. Pepper.
Short, and hot. Apples, pears, vanilla, clove. Very bourbon-y on the finish.
Interesting but not super remarkable. It feels young, and the rechar is evident, in a way I don't love.
