    49.3%

  • Age:

    NAS

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Raided Score: 90
  • Publication: Whiskey Raiders
  • Excerpt: Overall, this release is hard to justify from a hunting and purchasing perspective, but if you stumbled upon one, it's an easy enough sipper that may not impress hardcore whiskey drinkers, but certainly won't disappoint, either. Easy sipper territory, for sure.

  • Publication: Whiskey Wash
  • Excerpt: After reading all the fanfare and sipping a bit of the marketing Kool-Aid, I really expected something richer. It’s not something I would go out of my way to get my hands on, and I wouldn’t dump my glass in a potted plant, either.

  • Publication: Breaking Bourbon
  • Excerpt: Its Cognac finish is surprisingly inoffensive, well integrated, and long lasting. A bit more intensity all around would have made this truly shine, but nevertheless it’s a well-crafted whiskey.

  • Intro:

Distilled by an undisclosed distiller sourced for Lux Row, this is the 6th Pact of their annual Blood Oath release. These releases typically feature novelty packaging, a neat wooden box, and a unique finish. In this case, Cognac is the finish of choice. This release features a blend of 14yr, 8yr and 7yr whiskey.

  • Nose:

Sweet and approachable on the nose. Lightly roasted almonds, honey, toffee and a touch of buttercream. Light pepper.

  • Taste:

Medium mouthfeel. Sweet again, not overly decadent or viscous, but pleasant enough. Sweet butter, toffee, honey, a touch of creme brulee and vanilla bean. Touch of pepper and brown sugar.

  • Finish:

Medium to long finish, despite a fairly meek palate, the finish is pleasant enough. Sweet once more, with maple candies, graham cracker, light clove and a touch of tobacco.

  • Overall:

Overall, this release is hard to justify from a hunting and purchasing perspective, but if you stumbled upon one, it's an easy enough sipper that may not impress hardcore whiskey drinkers, but certainly won't disappoint, either. Easy sipper territory, for sure.
