Bruichladdich 15yr Faodail 2002 Sherry Cask #1266

  • Distiller:

    Bruichladdich

  • Bottler:

    Bruichladdich

  • ABV:

    57.1%

  • Age:

    15 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled in 2002 and matured for 15 years in a fresh sherry cask, this enigmatic release titled Faodil comes to us from Bruichladdich. Bottled at cask strength after dumping from Cask 1266 with no coloring or filtering.

  • Nose:

Powerful fudge, cream, sherry notes. Fig, stewed fruits, dark tobacco and old musty pungent desserts. Ripe plum.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate, delivers a moderately rich mouth feel. Complex with tons going on, but not a pungent, heavy, syrupy feel on the palate, which is fine. Pepper, some earth and minerality, bright cherry, fig, cocoa, grape notes. Tiniest hint of ash.

  • Finish:

Long finish. There’s some smoke here, but it’s subdued behind cocoa, fig, caramel, plum and succulent dessert wine.

  • Overall:

Impressive, enigmatic yet more - this reminds me of a very lauded bottling I’ve had in the past - SCN’s Port Charlotte, but with the peat removed. Fantastic stuff.

  • Score:

    8
