Distilled by Bruichladdich on Islay and aged for 21 years, this Cuvee is the third of a set. Alongside a Bordeaux Sauternes and a Cognac cask finished release, this particular bottling - the 407 - is matured in PX casks.
Rich dark cherry, blackberry, sherry and currant. Supple and elegant on the nose with all of the delicious notes we'd expect an unpeated malt and PX sherry to arrive with.
Dark and brooding, extremely syrupy. Faint ash. The masterclass of sherry. Rich mouthfeel, sweet and fruity but not too sweet and fruity. Lots going on here with a slight influence from the Islay aging that brings balance to the malt, sweet wine and faint ash.
Long finish that takes forever to dissipate. More malt than wine on the finish, with blackberry, currant, stewed fruits and toffee supporting the show.
An amazing bottling that easily stands as my favorite of the trio of Laddie Cuvee's. This is a sherry master class.
