Bruichladdich HB 90 / 27

  • Distiller:

    Bruichladdich

  • Bottler:

    Bruichladdich

  • ABV:

    49.5%

  • Age:

    27 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled by Bruichladdich and aged for 27 years on the island of Islay, this Rare Cask Series release is a travel retail exclusive for the brand and features 17 years of aging in ex-bourbon before being finished for 10 more years in Bordeaux wine casks. With only 12,000 bottles produced and bottling without coloring, filtering or dilution, this is the Bruichladdich 1990 / 27 Rare Cask Series.

  • Nose:

Pungent cherry, plum, papaya, mango on the nose. Rich palate - decadent and powerful.

  • Taste:

Sulphur and ash on palate with cherry snd berry, blueberry and blackberry, syrup and toffee.

  • Finish:

Long impressive finish although it leans a hair bitter. You definitely can taste the age on this bottling - not always a given with Islay aged casks - and it's a symphony for sure.

  • Overall:

Bruichladdich has swung for the fences with this bottling and the combination of age, wine, and base malt is nothing short of a masterpiece.

  • Score:

    8
