Released from an outturn of just under 10,000 bottles, this release from Bunnahabhain was bottled after 11 years of aging in a Manzanilla wine cask at cask strength with no coloring or filtering.
Sweet cream, honey, praline, pungent creme brulee. The sherry character is sweet, butterscotch forward and quite nutty. Dessert on the nose for days.
Medium mouth feel. A hint of ethanol, but very little. Sweet praline, werthers caramel, light maltiness. Great pepper component offsetting the sweetness, with a hint of oak. Sweet, complex, enticing.
Long finish. Caramel, light red berries, a bit of wine sweetness and some more praline / cinnamon / brown sugar.
Fascinating influence from the manzanilla here, revealing a moderately sherried release that hits all the right notes.
