Bushmills 10yr Single Malt

  • Distiller:

    Bushmills

  • Bottler:

    Bushmills

  • ABV:

    40%

  • Age:

    10 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled by Bushmills and aged for 10 years, their newly redesigned Irish Single malt is matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. Hailing as "the world's oldest licensed distillery", Bushmills has no shortage of experience making whiskey, so let's hope this is a winner.

  • Nose:

Apples, pears, honey, waxy fruits, lemon bar and a touch of vanilla bean. It's light, sweet, aromatic and perfume-y with a touch of ethanol. Light on tannin, if any.

  • Taste:

Thin on the palate, a good deal of honey, apples and pears. Light peach quality, lightly nutty - think almonds and pecans. A touch of ethanol. Overall, just very light and sweet. It's an easy drinker.

  • Finish:

Short finish, light and a bit hot. It's thin, uninspiring and drinks like a much higher ABV for only 40% ABV.

  • Overall:

Light and inviting on the nose, this 10yr expression quickly falls apart and proves to be a touch value proposition when other, better Irish bottlings exist, even within the Bushmills catalogue.

  • Score:

    4
