A recently re-designed entry in the core library of expressions, Bushmills 12yr Single Malt is an affordably priced, widely available single malt from the Irish brand. Let's dive in.
Sweet and grain forward, plenty of pear, apple, honey and a faint touch of anise. There's some bitter, acidic notes on the nose which is interesting and not entirely expected. Faintly lactic.
Thin on the palate. Sweet grain, honey, baked biscuits and a touch of fresh bread. A bit more ethanol than I'd expect here, as well as a faint touch of smoke and bitter grain on the back palate.
Short finish, a touch hot, lightly bitter with a sour finish.
There are many great Bushmills out there, but this isn't one of them. I'd recommend a different entry instead.
