  • Intro:

    A blend of single malt and grain whiskey that's matured exclusively in bourbon casks (unlike bourbon and sherry for the Black Bush), this affordable entry in the Bushmills portfolio aims to appeal most to those on a bit tighter of a budget.

  • Nose:

    Light, fruity, faintly musty, malty. Peach rings and young grain are most notable here.

  • Taste:

    Sweet, a bit of vanilla, cream, more peach and light pepper. Extremely thin mouthfeel. No heat at 40% which is expected. Not a ton of character.

  • Finish:

    Short finish that's mostly sweet cream, light fruits, honey and light almond.

  • Overall:

    There isn't a ton going on here, and this release is definitely best on the rocks or in a cocktail. Neat drinkers will find Bushmills Red Bush fairly boring.
