This is an independent bottling of spirit distilled at Caol Ila, bottled by SMWS after 11 years of aging in an ex-bourbon barrel. This bottling, "Stampede of Peat" is bottled at cask strength, with no coloring or filtering. Let's see how it is.
Honey, musty caramel, big peat and a wet slap of briney smoke. Fungal and very marine.
Thin to medium mouth feel, although there is some heat. Sweet lemon, honey and a slap of peat smoke. Ashy and fungal. Not much else going on.
Long, really hot. Punishing hot almost. Lots of peat, smoke, ash and brine. Dead sea stuff.
This is ok. Nothing bad about it, but it's a hair hot, and also sort of lacking complexity. Could reach higher.
