Excerpt: The palate is heavily spicy with a bold apple butter note; combined with some of the whiskey’s youthful doughy character, it eventually comes across a bit like an apple fritter.
Excerpt: Chattanooga Whiskey 99 Rye isn't different simply for the sake of being different, but offers a unique spin on the traditional rye flavor profile that may buck your expectations of what a rye should taste like.

House Review
Intro:
Produced using a variety of rye, malted ryes and corn, Chattanooga released their first rye whiskey with a minimum age of 3 years and a bottling proof of 49.5% ABV.
Nose:
Enticing - brown sugar aplenty, alongside pepper, some clove, and a delightful cocoa note.
Taste:
Moderate mouth feel. Proof rests nicely - great choice on the bottling ABV. Cocoa, honey, a bit of clove and spicy pepper ensure you know this is a rye. It reminds me a bit of Mexican chocolate a bit - spicy and cocoa forward in a rich, savory display.
Finish:
Medium finish, heavy on the cocoa once more.
Overall:
An excellent inaugural rye release from Chattanooga. A producer doing things right lands a swing and a home run once again. Watching future ryes from them with great anticipation.
