Excerpt: This is a highly satisfying straight malt whiskey with a smooth and silky texture that nicely segues into a medium to long finish with a pleasant influx of cinnamon and pepper notes on the back end.

House Review
Intro:
The third member of Chattanooga Whiskey's limited-edition Finishing Series, this is a straight malt whiskey finished in Cabernet Sauvignon casks sourced from Sonoma winery Silver Oak Cellars. The whiskey is a blend of five single-malt mashbills. This release was aged for more than four years, including over 18 months spent in the Cabernet barrels. With only 6-8 barrels produced, this is a limited release.
Nose:
Creamy on the nose with tons of frosting, red berries, cocoa, blackberry, cherry cordial, a hint of pepper and slate.
Taste:
A bit hot on the palate, but the ethanol fades with a moment of rest. Rich red berries, cranberry, cherry and blackberry, light citrus zest and creamy frosting carries again.
Finish:
Pleasant finish but a touch on the short side. Heavy cabernet notes continue here, bringing in a touch more tannin, as well.
Overall:
This is wine first and Chattanooga high malt second. If you love Cabernet, this is going to be right up your alley.
