  • Excerpt: The richness of a stout in theory would lend itself delightfully to a whiskey, but this one fell short for me. It’s a great concept that could use some finessing in execution.

  • Excerpt: Small barrel-type aromas: sharp, fresh oak and hot grain, but also cocoa hulls and coffee grounds. Tastes youthfully hot, and chocolatey, and sweet, and the oak is raw and forward. More chocolate than stout, I think.

  • Intro:

This is a craft expression from Chicago Distilling company using a stout mashbill

  • Nose:

Green, caramel, big stout notes. Lactic sour milk, wet carboard, ethanol. Smells hot

  • Taste:

Thin, sweet and very green. This is very young tasting. Prickly ethanol, wet cardboard. Cereal grains. Harsh wood. The stout notes are here but they dont integrate well with the whiskey

  • Finish:

Short, hot and oddly lactic, stout notes are rich here. Not in a great way.

  • Overall:

Funky, hot, young. That's it, let's move on. Get me out of here.

  • Score:
