  • Intro:

Oddly bottled as just a Kentucky Whiskey (no bourbon designation), this is an 8-year-old bottling from Chicken Cock Whiskey. Bottled at 46% ABV and priced around $99, this is distilled somewhere other than Bardstown — an undisclosed Kentucky distillery. Let's dive on in.

  • Nose:

Sweet fruits, honey, toffee, pears, apples pineapple. It's tropical, light, sweet and enjoyable on the nose. Not a lot of oak or baking spice, but it's entirely pleasant.

  • Taste:

On the palate, it has a satisfying mouthfeel despite the lower-than-average proof. It's not wildly complex, but it's a fun bouquet of tropical fruits, honey, toffee and very light oak influence. Notable, the double oaking doesn't over-oak this release or leave it with any off flavors. Nice!

  • Finish:

Short but pleasant finish. More fruit and honey again with a light touch of oak.

  • Overall:

Overall, this is pretty distinctive. If you're used to and satisfied with the generally high prices that Chiclen Cock releases carry, this is a no-brainer, especially if you enjoy the brand's house profile.
