Excerpt: The double-oaked character adds a lot of complexity that isn’t usually found in Irish releases of this age, and it just works. This whiskey is lovely and easy to drink.
Excerpt: It all makes for an excellent sipping whiskey, perhaps with just a drop of water or a single ice-cube to damp down the alcohol and draw the flavors out a little more.
Excerpt: Sure it could use a bit more time for some added maturity, but as it sits now it’s enjoyable and has a nice, natural-tasting, sweetness that carries it from sniff to finish. I’ll enjoy sipping and mixing through this Clonakilty Double Oak Irish Whiskey.

House Review
Intro:
A blend of cask finishes, this Double Oak finish pairs initial aging in ex-bourbon casks with a combination of aging in virgin America oak and re-charred and toasted wine casks. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, it's great to see a bump over the fairly characteristic minimum among Irish distillers. A portion of the sales supports the Whale and Dolphin Conservation. Let's dive in.
Nose:
Bold and sweet, rich and packed with honey, toffee and a light hint of cocoa and coffee.
Taste:
Sweet on the palate. Moderate mouthfeel with honey, almonds, a pinch of pepper, light oak and toffee. Butterscotch, some Werther’s caramel candies.
Finish:
Moderate to long finish, pleasant and sweet oak, toffee, honey, caramel and more almond.
Overall:
Overall, this release is really interesting. The double-oaked character adds a lot of complexity that isn’t usually found in Irish releases of this age, and it just works. This whiskey is lovely and easy to drink.
