Distilled by Dalmore and blended from stocks of select sherry casks, King Alexander III stands tall as the brand's key, core, bottling in their luxury line of whiskey. Truly a King indeed? Let's dive in.
Rich and funky on the nose, full of sherry character and a great deal of wine sweetness. Honey, toffee, blueberry, acai, fig and honey.
Light on the palate. Not a bold, boisterous, powerful palate, but there's a good deal of flavor. I'm having a hard time deciphering each casks influence here, as the flavors are moderately muted.
Medium to short finish. peppery, a good deal of blackberry, black pepper, cherry cordial and some blueberry.
Overall, if you're going to drink a modern Dalmore, this is the play for a professional, business class whiskey. That said, it's a bit muted throughout, and if you're chasing bold flavors, you won't find them here.
