Distilled in January of 2009 and bottled in May of 2019, this 10yr expression from Edradour was fully matured in an Oloroso sherry cask before being bottled at cask strength. Dumped from Cask #002.
Extremely jammy on the nose, loaded with fruit, sulfur, some oak and loads of caramel. Fruit notes embody cherry, blueberry, blackberry, some currant.
Sweet on the palate, rich, syrupy and jammy. Quite a bit of caramel, honey, pungent tobacco, bright cherry cordial and black currant.
Short finish, a bit hot, but once again leaning hard into the fruit aspects, no doubt from heavy wine influence. Blackberry, tobacco, pepper.
This is quite nice. If you’re in the mood for jammy sherry, this is a one stop shop. The base malt is completely covered up here, but the wine doing the covering is drinking just fine.
