Excerpt: I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth this whiskey was. It definitely had some cognitive consequences after the first glass, which I realized after trying to read my notes the next day.
Excerpt: Somehow, a drop of water makes it even more complex, amplifying the butterscotch and presenting cinnamon-soaked roasted pecans and almonds. Pure bliss; a must-sip.
Excerpt: If they ever change anything about it as far as age statement or NCF, I will be upset. Heaven Hill, if you are reading this, please never change!

House Review
Intro:
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a 12yr product distilled at Heaven Hill and bottled at barrel proof. Recently, theyve moved from no batch codes to including a letter followed by numerals, so this is the second of the new batch system, A117.
Nose:
Oak, caramel, vanilla, pixie sticks, cherry, cocoa. Really rich, lots of toffee with faint pepper undertones.
Taste:
Medium to thick, hot, but rich with flavor. Peppery oak, earthy cocoa, caramel, tobacco, vanilla and some cherry.
Finish:
Long, but more peppery than Id like and pretty astringent. Cocoa, some toffee and lots of musty tobacco
Overall:
This is nice but not up to snuff with other releases I've had.
