Excerpt: This delves deeper into flavors and complexity and elevates it to a better drink than the other batch. This was very enjoyable and probably would be neck and neck with Stagg Jr. despite my love towards it.
Excerpt: This one needs a bit of water to bring out honey and vanilla on the palate, while not taking anything away from the spices. The finish is long and spicy with a hint of oak.
Excerpt: Go in prepared and you will be rewarded with a refined drinking experience lodged firmly in the traditions that make bourbon the drink of choice for so many.
Excerpt: Back on track, I’m hella into this release. Excellent work, Heaven Hill. This is best in class, and tops the majority of recent releases to me. If they can release a few more like this, they'll be back to parity with Stagg Jr.

House Review
Intro:
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a 12 year old, cask strength, release from Heaven Hill in Kentucky. Batches were originally denoted by proof alone, but in recent times, since the bottle re-design, batches now get additional designation to help with tracking releases. This is Batch C919.
Nose:
Rich oak, toffee, sweet caramel, tobacco and oak. Nice structure, ethanol in check, sweet and brittle-ish
Taste:
Thick, rich, loaded with oak, toffee, tobacco and honey. Some orange peel, pepper, coriander and then it’s back to the dessert show. Vanilla bean, werthers caramels and rich musty sweets. I’m in.
Finish:
Long, rich and powerful. Oak structure perfectly balances toffee, tobacco, caramel and oak.
Overall:
Back on track, I’m hella into this release. Excellent work, Heaven Hill. This is best in class, and tops the majority of recent releases to me. If they can release a few more like this, they'll be back to parity with Stagg Jr.
