  • Excerpt: The new standard-grade Elijah Craig doesn’t have that kind of power, but it’s also a less expensive and more accessible bourbon. Taking all that into account, it’s definitely still worth a look.

  • Excerpt: Elijah Craig Small Batch definitely has a strong oaky backbone to the aroma and smells like some older bourbon is in there, which makes sense if the story of it being made from 8-12 year old barrels is true. The palate has a similar delivery and gives off some nice oaky notes, but lacks the depth of a well matured bourbon.

  • Excerpt: An overall pleasant bourbon with a solid length to the finish for the price. Enjoyable as a daily go-to bourbon, and it's also a nice proof to enjoy on the rocks or in a cocktail.

  • Intro:

Heaven Hill recently removed the 12 year age statement from this product. This is the NAS release.

  • Nose:

Oak, vanilla and a lot of woody maple. Odd artificial note. Artificial fruit / sweetener?

  • Taste:

Vanilla and oak. Not a whole lot of maple. Hot and mildly astringent.

  • Finish:

Short, hot and odd Splenda note makes a return with some light fruitiness.

  • Overall:

Not my cup of tea. Too dry and oaky and that odd artificial sweetener taste is not great.

  • Score:

    4
