Found North Batch #005

  • Distiller:

    Undisclosed

  • Bottler:

    Found North

  • ABV:

    58.1%

  • Age:

    8 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

A blend of 73% 21 year old Corn whiskey and a blend of 27% 8 year wheat whiskey, this is the 5th batch from Found North whiskey. Bottled at 58.1% ABV, about 2,000 bottles were produced and the blend is aged in a combination of new american oak and ex-bourbon. This batch is non-chill filtered, has no additives and no coloring. Let's dig in!

  • Nose:

Nutty and rich, top to bottom this pour is full of beautifully constructed dessert character and sweetness without giving up structure or complexity. Nougat, salted caramel, savory oak and delightful rich espresso and maple.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel at first, it's maple forward with a great, musty, tobacco note springing forth. The richness is no surprise when you consider the general aged component of this release, and it melds beautifully. Rich maple, cinnamon, clove, spicy pepper and orange peel meet sweet oak, incredible richness and caramel.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Packed with tobacco, cherries, maple and brown sugar. A winner with beautiful complexity.

  • Overall:

I love this blend and it shows a lot that the brand is willing to sacrifice the age statement to make a blend that truly hits on the profile they're seeking.

  • Score:

    7
