Found North Batch #006

  • Distiller:

    Undisclosed

  • Bottler:

    Found North

  • ABV:

    64.1%

  • Age:

    17 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Bottled at 128.2 proof, Batch 006 is the highest-octane release to date from Canadian whisky bottler Found North. A blend of five whiskies aged in new Hungarian and American oak barrels and ranging in age from 17-26 years, Batch 006 features a mashbill of 87% corn.

  • Nose:

All 17 years of corn here shine in a maple bruiser that's complemented nicely by cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel candies.

  • Taste:

Beautifully rich on the palate, this is a well-composed blend of caramel, raisin bread, toffee, nutmeg and cocoa. Fresh berries, toffee, honey, light confectioners and a prickle of ethanol.

  • Finish:

Long finish, rich and pure dessert. The corn drives hard and fast with the rye playing mediator. Sticky toffee pudding, figs, honey, papaya, creamy sweetness and butterscotch play against spicy rye and orange peel, pepper, ango bitters and nutmeg.

  • Overall:

Overall, this is a winner of a batch even if I prefer Batch 005. This will be an all-star for those with a love of berries, cinnamon and toffee.

  • Score:

    7
