Freeland Bourbon

  • Intro:

Distilled by MGP and blended and bottled by Freeland in Oregon, this release represents the brand's first entry into the whiskey market. This is Batch 11 of their bourbon, and is bottled at 46% ABV.

  • Nose:

Sweet and creamy nose, honey, toffee, light grain notes, banana bread and some light espresso.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel but a bit hotter than I’d expect for 46% ABV. Sweet cream, light oak, some pepper, honey and light banana.

  • Finish:

Short finish, a bit harsh. Not amazing, it’s competent enough, but the rough edges peek out here and there.

  • Overall:

Overall, not bad. Approachable, easy drinking and a welcome diversification to the Freeland portfolio, but that said, it's no stunner. There's frankly just too much stunning MGP on the market that demonstrates a good deal of competition, but Freeland's bourbon release is good for your cocktail bar or a neat pour when you're not looking to go all out.
