Raided Score: 90 Publication: Drink Hacker Excerpt: This is not really a serious whiskey, but it’s certainly not an unlikeable one, either. I would (and will) use it for cocktails, where the slightly elevated proof will shine — and the sweetness will allow for some restraint against the use of simple syrup and its ilk. Read Full Review Raided Score: 90 Publication: Whiskey Wash Excerpt: Dickel has presented a thoughtfully blended sipper that, with or without ice, is an excellent addition to the bourbon line up. I Definitely preferred it with ice, but either way there is a lot to talk about and enjoy in this glass. Read Full Review Raided Score: 90 Publication: Whiskey Raiders Excerpt: A winner from Dickel. Distilled by Dickel in Tennessee, this 8 year age stated release also features the designation of 'bourbon' on the label in a bold, and new, marketing move from the brand.
Big toffee, banana bread, some honey roasted peanut, cocoa, peanut butter, nougat and a faint touch of vanilla bean. Sweet, fruity, quite creamy.
Moderate palate, lovely oak profile here. Quite a bit, in fact, without dominating. Sweet cream, nougat, toffee and caramel. Light espresso and coffee notes on the back palate. Unique and interesting.
Long finish. This is drinking very complex, lots of creamy sweetness, caramel, espresso, honey roasted peanut and toffee on the finish.
A winner from Dickel. It's great to see that they are leaning into the debate on TN whiskey vs bourbon, and delivering a killer 8yr bourbon while they're at it. Bravo.
