  • Excerpt: Ginger features on the early, perfumed nose, with soft toffee, oranges, and dates. Milk chocolate on the creamy palate, where the ginger theme continues, along with cinnamon and caramel. The finish offers rich chocolate and orange, which finally fades.

  • Excerpt: Characterful. Officials always add more wood (so to speak – not obligatorily doing Zellwegers), but this worked for sure. Much less peat than in the indie.

  • Excerpt: There's a very rich, biscuity mouthfeel throughout to anchor all the flavors. Really opens up with a drop of water.

  • Excerpt: This is bonkers good in the nose and palate, but the finish lets it down a little. If it weren’t for that misstep in the finish, this would certainly be reaching for the stars.

  • Intro:

This is a 15yr, sherry matured release from Glen Garioch. I've had relatively little from them, but what I've had, I've really liked. Let's dive in.

  • Nose:

Sweet, musty toffee. Faint nutty character - pecan, almond, walnut. Honey, brown butter, toffee. Lots of tobacco.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel. Faint prickle of heat. Sweet toffee, decadent caramel, musty pipe tobacco. Caramel apple, nice pepper component. Solid oak structure.

  • Finish:

Medium, a bit hot. Sulfur, pepper, some toffee. Lots more heat than the nose or the palate.

  • Overall:

This is bonkers good in the nose and palate, but the finish lets it down a little. If it weren’t for that misstep in the finish, this would certainly be reaching for the stars.
