One of 137 bottles, this is a bottle from a single cask of Glen Grant, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2019. Bottled at cask strength with no coloring or filtering and matured in a bourbon cask, this should be a great look at what Glen Grant can do. Let's dive in.
Sweet honey, heather, musty lemon, toffee and dough. Sweet, malty, very standard Glen Grant profile.
Medium mouth feel. Sweet lemon, lime, minerality, faint dough, almond. Pepper, faint bitter orange.
Long, sweet, but a bit hot. Lemon, pepper, faint sulfur, toasted almond and vanilla bean.
Very nice overall. It’s pretty typical for old bourbon Glen Grant - solid, but not exceptional. It’s good to see more of these coming to market and holding up the quality of the few, rare, previous Grants that have come to spotlight.
