This is an independent bottling of spirit distilled at Glen Ord, bottled by SMWS after 9 years of aging in an ex-bourbon barrel. This bottling, "Down In The Old Wax Mines" is bottled at cask strength, with no coloring or filtering. Let's see how it is.
Fresh baked bread, amaretto, lavender, sweet cream, lightly floral. Some ethanol.
Hot, a bit of ethanol. Some ash, faint oak, toffee, floral undertones and mild charcoal. Vanilla bean. Good lord it’s hot, though.
Long, sweet, nutty. Lots of toffee, vanilla, nutty amaretto and baked bread. Lightly floral.
Good but hot. Some interesting new flavors, but nothing unique or extra compelling.
