  • Intro:

This is an independent bottling of spirit distilled at Glenallachie, bottled by SMWS after 7 years of aging in an ex-bourbon barrel. This bottling, "Kissing a Rainbow" is bottled at cask strength, with no coloring or filtering. Let's see how it is.

  • Nose:

Sweet, buttery, faint parchment paper. Honey, pepper, plum and faint must.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel but hot. Plums, peaches, pears, and ethanol. Vanilla, faint parchment, Dole fruit syrup, and ethanol. It's a bit hot for comfort.

  • Finish:

Long, rich and hot. Cocoa, rich plum, vanilla bean and ethanol.

  • Overall:

This was really nice, but the ethanol was undeniable and punishing. It can't be helped, the sheer heat keeps this from excelling.
