  • Excerpt: It is a very good dram actually, and the shaky nose is entertaining. Probably better than some other batches.

  • Excerpt: Deeper, richer, more viscous, and more intriguing than the 12 year old (and not as sappy as the 18 year old).

  • Excerpt: While enjoyable and quite delicious at times, I found myself gravitating back to the 12, a little put off by the whisky’s tough finish.

Raided Score is a conversion from an external site's score, to our in house uniform scoring system. Please see the FAQ for more.

  • Intro:

This is the original release of GlenDronach 15yr - a sherried single malt from GlenDronach. Along with the re-release from 2018, I compared these two blind in study for a special SBS with friends. Let's see how it is.

  • Nose:

Rich and pungent. Loads of pipe tobacco, sherry, old leather, stewed fruits and cocoa.

  • Taste:

Thick, rich mouth feel. No heat. Some pipe tobacco, nice oak structure. Loads of toffee, coffee, cocoa and stewed fruits. Blackberry and currant abound.

  • Finish:

Long and rich, lots of honey, toffee and currant.

  • Overall:

Really very good. The complexity and character despite the proof is incredible here.

  • Score:

    8
