    GlenDronach

  • ABV:

    54.3%

    27 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Yielding 667 bottles, this single cask from Glendronach was distilled in 1994 and bottled in 2021 for the US market, for a 2022 release. With an SRP of $600, this 27 single cask saw maturation in an Oloroso Puncheon and was bottled at 54.3% ABV with no coloring or filtering.

  • Nose:

Cocoa, plum, honey butter, toffee and a rich, peppery, tobacco character. Lovely, vibrant, enticing.

  • Taste:

Sweet and buttery on the palate. The proof is evident by the richness alone. Syrupy, rests on the jawline, easy to sit and chew through unironically. Peppery cocoa, clove, honey, stewed fruits, jammy blackberry, raspberry reduction, blueberry icing and a richness few casks can deliver.

  • Finish:

Long finish, toffee, peppery and savory: leather, brown sugar, fig, currant and Luxardo cherry. Incredibly rich.

  • Overall:

Older doesn't always mean better, and this younger single cask as part of the 2022 single cask outturn is an absolute rockstar.

  • Score:

    9
