This is a 25yr Glenfarclas.
Deep, deep sherry fruits. Cinnamon, nougat and some allspice. More fruit seeps in: fig, raspberry, strawberry, dates and some plumb. Its doughy and nougat-y.
This has a really fine mouthfeel, it coats nicely and immediately honey and vanilla cake notes pop up. Sherry seeps in again, with more dark fruits (not sweets) like figs, plumbs and dates. What surprises me though is how hot this feels on the tongue despite the proof.
The finish is long and hot, but sweet and delicious. Its like dessert and it just sticks around for forever. The longer it stretches, the better the balance becomes as the sherry and dessert notes (vanilla, dough, icing, etc) mingle.
This is good but I hate to say it...it just isn't the 24yr. I don't know why there is such a big difference in the color and depth of flavor but I'm quite smitten with the 24. Make no mistake though, this is an exceptional dram, but the refill sherry sort of cripples it.
