  • Excerpt: This is a refreshing and lively dram rather than a cavernous sherrybomb. The nose is exceptionally inviting here, it’s therefore a shame that the back palate and finish don’t quite manage to maintain the same level of poise.

  • Excerpt: The combination of tastes and scents in the bottle is quite enchanting, like a beautiful spinster. Indeed, this middle-aged malt seems rather confident that she has earned her place in my liquor cabinet. Who am I to disagree?

  • Excerpt: Really great presence here, a good bit of complexity, at a great price. The nutty, sherry forward profile is enjoyable.

  • Intro:

Distilled by Glengoyne, a distillery in continuous operation since 1833, this 18yr expression features sherry maturation for the life of aging.

  • Nose:

Big salted caramel, toffee, rising bread and a touch of ash. Light minerality, creme brulee and a touch of raisin.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel, some caramel, honey, praline, light maltiness and touch of ash. Sweet overall, with nutty sherry up front, caramel behind, and light apple pie sweetness in the back.

  • Finish:

Long finish, enjoyably sweet and complex. Fruity, nutty essence forward sherry with some cream, toffee and touch of ash in the back.

  • Overall:

Really great presence here, a good bit of complexity, at a great price. The nutty, sherry forward profile is enjoyable.
