  • Intro:

This is release No. 3 in Highland scotch whisky producer Glengoyne's Legacy Series, which debuted in 2019. Each year, The Legacy Series pays homage to a different person who played a key role in the distillery's history. This edition honors Sir Arthur John Tedder, the Glengoyne exciseman who was integral in definiing rhe rules of scotch whisky that are still followed today, including the three-year minimum maturation time and the use and requisite size of oak casks. As for the whisky, this single malt scotch is aged in American oak sherry casks and bottled at 96 proof.

  • Nose:

Apples, pears, grain and a touch of honey and vanilla. Sharp for a moment, sweet and fruity afterwards.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel, light on ethanol and thick and rich on pepper, vanilla bean, pears and apples with a touch of peaches and cream.

  • Finish:

Long finish with big pepper and slate notes, as well as apple crisp, cinnamon and toffee.

  • Overall:

I like this, and it shows a more youthful, spirity, spicy side of Glengoyne, which typically relies on heavy wine influence to deliver its house profile.
