Excerpt: This Quinta Ruban succeeds the 12 year old version, adding two additional years of finishing in port casks, while maintaining the same bargain price. The result is a symphony of understated opulence

A re-release of an already well known product, Glenmorangie’s Quinta Ruban ups the age statement an additional two years to bring this release to 14 years of age. Bottled at 46% ABV with no coloring or filtering and surprisingly priced exactly where the old bottles were priced, this is an interesting release to say the least.
Rich tobacco, jammy fruits, cocoa and brown butter. Malt character is there, the port isn’t overpowering. Rich and dessert forward.
Moderate mouth feel. Faint pinprick of heat. Plenty of caramel, toffee, some Glenmorangie bitterness. A wave of juicy fruit washes in. Red berries, currants, some grape and jam.
Short to medium finish. Rich, stewed fruits, some cocoa and toffee.
Overall, this is pretty nice. Builds on the great blocks already laid with the original Quinta and keeps going.
