  • Excerpt: This one’s as fresh as morning dew on primroses. Or something like that. But what the Maris Otter barley did to it, I couldn’t tell you.

  • Excerpt: Ultimately, Tusail isn’t quite as balanced as I’d like. I understand the desire to showcase the grain, but said grain just isn’t integrated well enough with the fruity components of the spirit, leaving behind a whisky with two faces.

  • Excerpt: Very interesting but something Id not often reach for. The bitterness is curbed by the really bold coffee note in the finish, though, which does well to propel this outside the typical range of scores we've been seeing from Glenmorangie lately.

  • Intro:

"The sixth entry in Glenmorangies Private Collection, showing off the distillerys experiments with different varieties of barley and named after the Gaelic word for originary (an archaic form of originating). Made using traditionally floor-malted Maris Otter barley, its an old-fashioned whisky backed up by Glenmorangies modern approach to whisky-making." - The Whiskey Exchange

  • Nose:

Sweet honey, cream, lemons and limes. Citrus, faint oak. Mildly bready.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel. No real heat. Toffee, almonds, caramel and fresh baked bread. Some bitterness, light plastic notes. Ethanol grows but doesnt become invasive.

  • Finish:

Short and almost a sort of coffee note develops. Malty and bready, light cocoa, pipe tobacco and pepper.

  • Overall:

Very interesting but something Id not often reach for. The bitterness is curbed by the really bold coffee note in the finish, though, which does well to propel this outside the typical range of scores we've been seeing from Glenmorangie lately.
