Glentauchers 9yr Cadenheads 2009

  • Distiller:

    Glentauchers

  • Bottler:

    Cadenheads

  • ABV:

    57.8%

  • Age:

    9 Years

  • Intro:

This is an independent bottling of spirit distilled by Glentauchers by Cadenheads. Matured for 9 years in a first fill sherry hogshead, this dram was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2019 at cask strength with no coloring or filtering. It was bottled for Dram 242. Let's dive in.

  • Nose:

Honey, young spirity ethanol, spearmint and then syrupy sweetness. Musty grain.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel, a bit of heat. Young and spirit driven. Plums, caramel, toffee, strawberry and young must. Pepper, some tobacco, a good bit of ethanol.

  • Finish:

Short, hot, loaded with fruits, sulfur and musty youth.

  • Overall:

This was a really weird one. 9 years is typically more than enough aging time for scotch, but this felt incredibly young, and not even first fill sherry could cover up some strange notes. Not a fan, which is a shame.

  • Score:

    4
