Great Jones Four Grain Bourbon

  • Distiller:

    Great Jones

  • Bottler:

    Great Jones

  • ABV:

    45%

  • Age:

    NAS

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Raided Score: 81
  • Publication: The Whiskey Wash
  • Excerpt: This whiskey is deeper and richer than the straight bourbon, but whether it’s worth 50% more is a tricky question. If I was buying only one, I’d probably spend $40 and get the straight bourbon. But it would admittedly be more fun to have both on your bar as you tell your friends about your visit to the distillery in Manhattan.

  • Excerpt: The whiskey is quite good as a neat sipper, but even better as a base for classic whiskey cocktails like Manhattans or sours.

  • Excerpt: The only drawback is the finish, which could be longer, but this is a solid sipper. It works well on its own and would be a great base for an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan.

  • Intro:

Hailing from New York City, this new producer is one of the few distillers in the area to open its doors since Prohibition's end in the United States. Our first look at Great Jobes features its Four Grain Straight Bourbon. Let's dive in! Batch 1.

  • Nose:

Bold and sweet on the nose, tons of apple pie, brown sugar, caramel and praline.

  • Taste:

Light on the palate but satisfying and full of flavor like sweet pastries, buttered croissant, praline, light maple and some faint berry.

  • Finish:

Short finish, but what's there is pleasant. Toffee, popcorn, honey, a touch of sweet oak and some satisfying baking spice.

  • Overall:

Great Jones is on a killer trajectory for its first set of releases.

  • Score:
