For musicians, amps and equalisers maintain critical balance at high volume by fine-tuning musical frequencies at Highland Park, our Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, does a similar job.
Honey, vanilla, butter cream. Lemon pastry. Salt, pepper, some faint smoke. Like dessert, on a picnic, by the ocean.
Medium richness, no heat. Nice and sweet - loads of vanilla, buttercream, cake batter, faint salinity, nice pepper note and some subtle peat.
Medium to long, much more peat here. Smoky, earthy, ashy salinity and smokiness balance pretty well with vanilla undertones.
For being something that is marketed as bold, aggressive, Spinal Tap-ish, this is none of those things. This is, however, a great whiskey. I like it quite a bit.
Our in house critic rates spirits on a scale of 0-10 (10 best) and is aggregated the same as external sources
