  • Excerpt: The finish is long with a touch of honey barbecue sauce smoke, lingering citrus tartness, and a hint of spices. Very nice!

  • Excerpt: Medium finish with smoky, drier and oaky notes. Not much complexity, but still a nice everyday dram.

  • Excerpt: An official that tastes like some very good independent, and that’s because there’s no sherry.

  • Excerpt: There’s more of a fresh-cut, green wood character on the finish, with some chewy licorice notes enduring on the drying, almost astringent conclusion. Whatever the case, it doesn’t make me think about music.

  • Excerpt: For being something that is marketed as bold, aggressive, Spinal Tap-ish, this is none of those things. This is, however, a great whiskey. I like it quite a bit.

Raided Score is a conversion from an external site's score, to our in house uniform scoring system. Please see the FAQ for more.

  • Intro:

For musicians, amps and equalisers maintain critical balance at high volume by fine-tuning musical frequencies at Highland Park, our Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, does a similar job.

  • Nose:

Honey, vanilla, butter cream. Lemon pastry. Salt, pepper, some faint smoke. Like dessert, on a picnic, by the ocean.

  • Taste:

Medium richness, no heat. Nice and sweet - loads of vanilla, buttercream, cake batter, faint salinity, nice pepper note and some subtle peat.

  • Finish:

Medium to long, much more peat here. Smoky, earthy, ashy salinity and smokiness balance pretty well with vanilla undertones.

  • Overall:

For being something that is marketed as bold, aggressive, Spinal Tap-ish, this is none of those things. This is, however, a great whiskey. I like it quite a bit.

  • Score:
