Raided Score is a conversion from an external site's score, to our in house uniform scoring system. Please see the FAQ for more.

  • Intro:

Distilled by Hirsch Distillers at an undisclosed distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, this is a blend of 95% 3-year-old and 5% 8-year-old bourbons.

  • Nose:

Bold spice, funky and rich on the nose. Pound cake, tobacco, orange peel, pepper.

  • Taste:

Moderate viscosity on the palate, a hint of youth and pepper on the palate. Light oakiness, funk and some light cardboard. A bit of youth wrestles with more mature bourbon notes.

  • Finish:

Short finish, full of cookie dough, pepper, light oak and some caramel.

  • Overall:

This is an interesting pour. You can almost taste the young and well-aged whiskeys grappling for control over the profile. I like most of what I’m tasting, but those youthful undertones are unescapable. I wonder what an 80:20 blend ratio instead of the current 95:5 would taste like — I bet it would be killer.
