  • Intro:

A blend of Irish grain whiskey, Irish malt whiskey and American rye whiskey, this is Keeper's Heart, a truly new concept. This is the first release of its kind I'm trying. Let's see how it shakes out.

  • Nose:

Young, full of apples, pears, a touch of esters, honey and faint mustiness. Getting mostly Irish grain on the nose. Rye spice seems to be off taking a hike.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate, grain-forward with a sharp ethanol note, clover honey, light caramel and toffee. Some apples and pears. Light oak, little tannin structure. Grainy and young.

  • Finish:

Short finish. It's quick and clean, making its way off pretty quickly. The ethanol dissipates here, leaving apples, pears, some bitter melon and a touch of must.

  • Overall:

An interesting project, this release feels like it could use more age, oak, proof or all three. It's not bad but hopefully the start of a longer, more age-driven series of releases.
